IF MANNING the mixing desk, creating graphic designs, heading up behind-the-scenes TV productions and performing live is what you want to do, the Nerve Centre’s full-time vocational courses in Derry are the place to start.
The award-winning creative media arts centre offers a range of accredited OCN NI Level 3 courses in Music Production, Music Performance & Technology, Creative Media, and Film & TV Techniques, starting in September.
Tutored by industry professionals, the courses offer practical experience of studio engineering, live performance, recording, songwriting, festival management, creative design and television production – ideal for anyone wanting to make their mark on the creative industries.
The Music Production course will help students get to grips with the latest digital recording technology – everything from programming, recording and mixing to mastering music and audio in various genres. For those with a passion in music, graphic design, film-making, video art or digital photography, the Creative Media course is designed to give a working knowledge of the industry and its software.
The Nerve Centre’s Music Performance & Technology course is aimed at budding performers with modules that will enhance song-writing skills, knowledge of digital sound composition, mixing and live sound.
Finally, the Media Techniques: Television & Video course will give students the opportunity to work on a diverse range of productions, from short films and promotional videos to playing a key role in the renowned Foyle Film Festival. The full-time courses are ‘OCN NI Level 3 Certificate in Creative Arts and Digital Technologies’ and are run in partnership with South West College. Successful completion of the course will allow students to advance to third level education.
