A LETTERKENNY Town Councillor has warned of an impending disaster for local authorities in Donegal as more issues arise with mechanical sewage treatment plants in housing estates.
Cllr Tom Crossan tabled a motion in relation to the failure of pumps for a plant at the Hazelwood Drive estate in Letterkenny at Tuesday night’s Town Council meeting.
The meeting heard that the developer of the estate had gone out of business and it was now up to the Town Council to rectify the matter and incur all costs.

Cllr Crossan added that the crisis now facing the council was of their own making as they had given developers planning permission to install plants in estates that had no connection to a mains sewer line.
