WATER pipes on Letterkenny’s Main Street are “constantly bursting” and “leaving large areas of the town without water,” a local councillor has claimed.
Raising the issue at the May meeting of Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District Council on Tuesday, Cllr. Michael McBride recalled that on a recent visit to the town on a Saturday morning he got a call from someone who feared that a sink-hole was emerging on Lr. Main Street.
While it did not materialise, considerable water was lost.
Having contacted Irish Water, remedial work was carried out shortly afterwards.
Nevertheless, he said that water-related issues are an on-going problem and the “middle of the Main Street down” needs work.
“Things could not happen quick enough as far as I am concerned,” he commented.
