CHLOE Magee is in seventh heaven after the Raphoe woman collected her seventh Irish National Championship title in Lisburn today.
Magee overcame Sinead Chambers in straight sets, 21-10 21-12, to take the title which continues her recent good form. Number one seed Magee defeated the number two seed Chambers in a 28-minute game.
Magee opened with a comfortable win over Pam Peard, 21-6 21-12, on Saturday to get her tournament off to an impressive start.
Magee holds these championships in high regard. It was there, also in Lisburn, where she secured Olympic qualification last year.
In her semi-final she made light work of Jennie King, defeating her 21-11 21-9 to book her place in the decider – where Chambers was no match for the in-form pocket rocket from Raphoe.
Chloe and her brother Sam Magee also won the mixed doubles. They overcame Tony Murphy and Jennie King in the final 21-9 21-10.
Magee has been in good form of late, finishing runner-up and the Irish Open and then winning the Turkish Open before Christmas and last month she competed at the Malaysia Open, turning in an encouraging display there too.
In the women’s doubles, Rachael Darragh – Chloe’s niece – and her partner Caoline Black were beaten in the final. Chambers and King defeated them 21-11 21-16.
