SEAN MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey will host Donegal’s 2015 Ulster SFC preliminary round clash with Tyrone on Sunday, May 17th.

It will be the ninth time in ten years that MacCumhaill Park will play host to an Ulster SFC game with Donegal having been quite fortunate to land home draws in recent times.

Donegal defeated Tyrone three times in three attempts in the Championship during Jim McGuinness’s reign as manager.  McGuinness’s successor will now begin their quest to retain Donegal’s Ulster crown with a blockbuster clash against the Red Hands.

Donegal defeated Tyrone in semi-finals in 2011 and 2012 before defeating Mickey Harte’s team in a 2013 quarter-final in Ballybofey.

Tyrone raised heckles in 2013 claiming that the Ballybofey ground’s capacity wouldn’t be enough to cater for their demands, but they were left red faced when 1,000 of their ticket allocation was returned.

At that stage, Donegal were defending Ulster and All-Ireland champions. Having been in this year’s All-Ireland final, Donegal will draw another capacity crowd for the visit of their neighbours and great rivals to the 17,520 capacity Finnside venue.

The senior game will be preceded by the Ulster Minor Championship clash between the two counties.
