DONEGAL Senator Manus Boyle has called for the M1 toll fees to be scrapped on the day of the All- Ireland Gaelic football final, writes Aoife Doherty.
Addressing the Dáil, Senator Boyle said Donegal supporters heading to Croke Park will already be under enough financial pressure without having to face toll fees on the journey.
With the cost of tickets, accommodation and fuel adding to the financial pain, Senator Boyle has suggested that the easing of toll fees would be a welcome idea ahead of the big match.
“Maybe the Leader could arrange for the national tolls to be done away with on Sunday for those travelling from Donegal,” he said.
“We have to pay for everything and it would be great if we could get through and down to Dublin without paying tolls.
“It is a costly day for every family and there will be four and five from every house travelling. I do not think there will be anybody left in Donegal. They will all be down.
“It is a proud day for Donegal and I am delighted that the team is in the final.”
