“Cara was a past pupil of Loreto Letterkenny, who completed her Leaving Cert in 2019.

“More recently Cara was a PME student, doing her teaching practice here with us, up until last Friday.

“She was due to complete her studies in May.

“Cara radiated warmth and joy and had a great relationship with her students and colleagues. She will be missed very much by all of us.

“On behalf of management, staff and students we extend our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to Cara’s family and friends.

A death notice for Ms Hannon reads: The sudden, untimely death has taken place on Tuesday, March 4,  2025 at ICU, Letterkenny University Hospital of Cara Hannon, Listillion, Letterkenny.

“Deeply missed by her loving parents P.J and Nellie, sister Emma Maguire (Shaun Paul), brother Patrick (Vivienne), uncles and aunties, nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends and colleagues at the Loreto Convent,

St. Eunan’s College and Lizzie’s Diner, Dunfanaghy.

“Cara is predeceased by her grandparents Patrick and Annie Hannon, Leitrim and Charlie and Margaret Gallen, Knocknamona, Letterkenny.

“Cara’s remains will repose at the family home in Listillion on Wednesday, March 5 and Thursday, March 6, from 1pm until after the Rosary at 9pm.

“Funeral from there on Friday, March 7 at 10.15am going to The Church of the Irish Martyrs, Ballyraine for 11am Requiem Mass which can be viewed on the parish YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/@churchoftheirishmartyrs4657. Interment afterwards in Conwal Cemetery, Letterkenny.
