THE Loreto Covent, Letterkenny Under 17 football team were celebrating on Tuesday as they clinched the Ulster title with a 3-1 victory over Carndonagh Community School.
Carn had impressed on their way through to the final and took an early lead.
However, the Letterkenny girls bounced back and Sinead McLaughlin equalised after good play from Aisling McGinley.
It was 1-1 at half-time.
Loreto stepped it up in the second half and went in front when Emer Cassidy provided the finishing touch from a Sophie Doherty free-kick.
Cardonagh pushed for a way back into the game but Loreto goalkeeper Caoimhe McLaughlin was in outstanding form.
The clinching goal then arrived from Ava Harkin much to the delight of the Loreto girls.
Loreto Convent, who are managed by Lynnette Rodgers and Clare Friel now advance to the All-Ireland semi-finals where they will take on Salerno Secondary School, Salthill after the mid-term break.
