This insightful and intriguing programme from Co. Donegal shines a spotlight on one of Ireland’s musical hidden gems. The Loinneog Lúnasa festival attracted visitors and musicians from all over Ireland including worldwide renowned traditional band Altan.
“This festival started two years ago because there was such a strong desire in the area to promote the rich tradition of music found in this region.
“There’s a great community spirit here and everyone came together to make this festival happen and it’s great to think people from outside the region will be able to tune in to SKY TV and www.irishtv.ie and see what we have to offer,” commented festival chairperson Cathal Gallagher.
“The Loinneog Lúnasa Festival programme is a perfect example of musical Ireland at its best. The programme on SKY TV this coming Thursday on channel 191 and on www.irishtv.ie also explores elsewhere in Co. Donegal including an entertaining outing to the Daniel O’Donnell centre and a mouth-watering trip to Danny Minnie’s restaurant in Annagry,” commented Donegal native and programme producer Mairéad Ní Mhaoilchiaráin.
The IRISH TV programme this week from Gweedore features some wonderful music from the festival as well as all the colourful crafts and fantastic family-fun entertainment on offer during the festival.
