SOME OF Carrigart and Downings’ best talent entertained the visitors to Féile Carraig Arts & Culture’s Tráthnóna Airneal on Easter Sunday.

Locals gathered at Teach John Mickey Ban’s, the family home of Hugo and Margaret Boyle, in Carrigart in the afternoon to enjoy traditional Irish and contemporary music for Tráthnóna Airneal.

Visitors poured into the lovingly restored home of the Boyle family to keep warm in front of the roaring fire and listen to local musicians entertain them.

Singers and musicians included Donal McDevitt, Joseph Deery, Declan McClafferty (In Their Thousands), Rosie Carney, Shane McLaughlin (The Voice of Ireland finalist), May McClafferty and Paddy Cullen.

Easter eggs, donated by Boyce’s Centra, were hidden throughout the grounds of the house and enthusiastic children needed no encouragement to hunt them down.

The organisers would like to express their sincere thanks to Hugo and Margaret Boyle, Marie Caldwell, Moving Mevagh Forward and to all those who performed throughout the afternoon and those who came along to support the festival. All donations received are in aid of Féile Carraig Arts & Culture 2013.

The third annual festival will take place August 23-25. Already confirmed for the weekend includes a family fun day, traditional music, football match, an open mic night, an art exhibition, craft stalls, a 10k walk, drawing day, tea dance, workshops, arts and crafts, song-writing, dance, photography, food and beer tasting.
