SUNSHINE and red hot tunes are guaranteed at this month’s Cabaret Craiceáilte, in Gaoth Dobhair, on Saturday night.
Cutting edge traditional group Moxie, Aoife Scott and friends from Dublin, Blunderbrau and friends from Rann na Feirste, top sean nós dancer Seosamh Ó Neachtáin and Clare musician Conor Keane at this Saturday’s Irish language music and dance extravaganza in Hiúdaí Beag’s, An Bun Beag.
The band incorporates Irish music with other genres such as folk, jazz and new age bluegrass.
Local band Blunderbrau, featuring former members of Inis Fáill, Dónall Mac Ruairí of Ráidió Na Gaeltachta fame, and Joe Greene, make a welcome return to the Cabaret Craiceáilte, with special guests, Clann Mhic Ruairí.
Aoife Scott from Dublin, daughter of Frances Black, is fast making a name for herself on the Irish music scene and represented Ireland at the Liet International Song Contest in 2011 and at the International Pan Celtic Song Contest this year. Aoife will be joined by her brother Eoghan and Conor Lyons of the famed traditional group The Bonny Men.
Box player Conor Keane will be joined by his son, Donnchadh Ó Catháín, on the guitar.
The King of Sean Nós dancing , Seosamh ‘Joe Stones’ Ó Neachtáin , from An Spidéal, Conamara, completes this Saturday’s all star Craiceáilte line up, which kicks off, tigh Hiúdaí, at 9.30pm.
A special Cabaret Craiceáilte, as part of Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta takes place in the ClubTheach, Cumann Lúth Chleas Gael Ghaoth Dobhair, on Saturday, June 2 as well, with Cabaret regulars Bréag, Tura Aru Tura, Shane Hennessy and many more.
