Lizzie Maloney RIP: One of Donegal’s oldest citizens

THE death has taken place in her 105th year at Archview Lodge, Drumany, Letterkenny, of Mrs Elizabeth (Lizzy) Maloney, formerly of 35 Ard O’Donnell.
Removal this afternoon at 3pm from Archview Lodge to the home of her daughter Mrs Maura Boyce, 26 Derryveagh Avenue, to repose. Her remains were be taken to St Eunan’s Cathedral on Thursday morning for 10am Requiem Mass with burial afterwards in the family plot in Conwal cemetery.
Predeceased by her two daughters and husband Johnny, she is survived by her sons Patrick (Cork), Cartha (Melbourne), Sean (Letterkenny), former member of Letterkenny Town Council, Chairman of Donegal County Council and Seanad Eireann; Eamon TD Tallaght Dublin South West and former Mayor of Dublin South County, daughters Maura Boyce (26 Derryveagh Avenue), Sue Durning (College Farm Road), her sister Agnes Farrell ( Ray, Manorcunningham) grandchildren, great granchildren, great great grandchild, other relatives and a wide circle of family friends.
Lizzy (nee Shiels, Manorcunningham) worked in McCarrys Hotel, Letterkenny, for many years. One of Donegal’s oldest citizens, she was a popular lady in Letterkenny.
