THE Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce has announced that the Donegal Little Blue Heroes have accepted the invitation to serve as the Grand Marshals for the 2026 Letterkenny St Patrick’s Day Parade.
The Donegal Little Blue Heroes, a group of children living with life‑limiting illnesses who have been made honorary members of An Garda Síochána, will lead the parade through the town on March 17.
Chamber President Jimmy Stafford has expressed his delight at their participation, noting the inspiration and joy these young heroes bring to communities across Donegal.
Their presence at the head of the parade is regarded as a meaningful tribute to their courage, resilience, and the vital work of the Little Blue Heroes Foundation.
Speaking on behalf of the parade committee, organisers said the involvement of the Donegal Little Blue Heroes will make this year’s celebration especially memorable.
“These children represent the very best of community spirit, bravery, and hope. We are honoured that they will lead Letterkenny’s St Patrick’s Day Parade in 2026.”
Sgt Charlene Anderson, the Donegal Garda Divisional representative for the Little Blue Heroes Foundation, added:
“We are hugely proud to have been invited to serve as Grand Marshals of the Letterkenny St Patrick’s Day Parade. It is a tremendous honour for all our Little Blue Heroes.
“This recognition is very meaningful to everyone involved with our charity and it will be a fantastic, fun day out for all. Thank you to the Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce for the very kind invitation.”
The parade, one of the largest in the northwest, is expected to draw thousands of spectators.
This year’s event will feature community groups, cultural performers, emergency services, local organisations, and a wide range of family‑friendly entertainment.
