Lisa McHugh and her band are playing at the Arranmore Country Music Festival.
OUR Country Girl Lisa McHugh is looking forward to headline the closing night of Arranmore Country Music Festival this weekend.
Trevor Loughrey kicks things off the Aranmore Country Music Festival on the island on Saturday, August 25 and he is followed by Noel Cassidy and Martin Cuffe.
On Sunday, August 26 there is an appearance by Paul Gallagher and Mary B, followed by Josie Cannon.
Later in the evening Lisa McHugh and her band will bring the festival to a close with Tommy Rosney of Highland Radio wrapping up the festival wop Country music.
Lisa, who lives in Letterkenny when she is not touring, and her band have enjoyed massive success touring all over the country and abroad in recent times.
The Country Girl’s latest single entitled, Why’d Ya come In Here?, taken from her album Dreams Come to Life, goes on official release today.
The single has also been filmed on location in a school classroom for transmission on all programmes on SKY TV Showcase Channel 191.
This is a fun ‘summer song’ that adds an extended vision of Lisa’s talent as she acts out the lyrics. Lisa said she enjoyed the experience in this unique piece of vocal comedy.
The summer season has been extremely busy for Lisa and her band being the only female country artist with a full time professional band on the circuit.
Her band members are among the most experienced highly acclaimed musicians with Ray McLoughlin on piano and MD and lead guitarist Colm McClean along with newcomers James Blennerhasssett on bass and double bass and Robbie Casserley from Riverdance etc on drums.
To complete this stage show Mike Nester is sound technician with Niall Bogue on lights and tour manager Cathal Fee.
Another piece of good news is that Lisa has recovered from her back illness. During the early part of this year she was hospitalised on two occasions by a slipped disc and had to postpone a major trip to perform with the legendary Gene Watson at the CMA Global Artist Party in Nashville during the 2012 CMA Music Festival Week. She hopes to do that again in the future.
Lisa is to receive the ‘Artist of the Year’ 2012 Award from the prestigious Northern Nashville Country Music Club in Thurso, Northern Scotland.
This annual award is voted by the NNCMC members and will be presented by them during Lisa’s appearance on September 28.
She recently performed with her band at their annual Northern Nashville Caithness Country Music Festival to an audience of 3,000 people.
Rosette Records have big plans to further Lisa’s recording career, so expect a lot more to come from the Country Girl by the end of the year.
