THE Ladies Gaelic Football Association is pleased to announce the 2024 LGFA Volunteer of the Year award winners.
The award recipients will gather at Croke Park next Friday, January 24, for a very special evening to celebrate their outstanding achievements. The LGFA’s Volunteer Hall of Fame winner is Hugh Devenney, a stalwart of the Four Masters club in county Donegal.
Laghey native Hugh has been involved with Donegal LGFA since 1993, serving in various positions at county board level in that time.
At his home club, Hugh has also coached, refereed and mentored teams, and he was one of the first managers to mastermind back-to-back club titles at Senior Championship level in Donegal.
A former Ulster Council President and ex-Donegal county board chairperson, Hugh continues to serve the provincial body and is the national body’s Culture and Language Officer.
LGFA President Mícheál Naughton commented: “We are delighted to announce our 2024 LGFA National Volunteer of the Year award winners.
“2024 was a special year for our Association as we marked 50 years in existence.
“Our volunteers are at the heart of everything that we do and it’s only right that we acknowledge their tireless work and their significant impact in their local communities.
“Once again, we received a large volume of entries and the judging committee debated long and hard on the final list of winners.
“I would like to thank the people who nominated in each of the ten categories, and I also wish to acknowledge the work of all nominees.”
