Glenfin, one of the dominant forces in ladies football in the county over the past decade, bowed out of the Donegal LGFA Senior Championship when they were held to a draw by Naomh Conaill at Páirc Taobhoige on Sunday morning.
Glenfin knew that a win would be good enough to secure a top four finish and a place in the semi-finals.
However, in a rip-roaring encounter, they finished level with Naomh Conaill on a scoreline of 1-12 to 2-09.
It was a brilliant result for the Glenties side who will now go on to meet Termon in the semi-final.
Glenfin, finalists in each of the last ten seasons, drop into the Senior Shield semi-finals where they will meet Naomh Muire.
In yesterday’s other game, Termon won comfortably away to Naomh Muire, meaning they top the group on score difference ahead of St. Eunan’s.
The Letterkenny side will have home advantage against Moville in their senior semi-final.
The other Shield semi-final will be between Aodh Ruadh and St. Nauls.
At Intermediate level, Gaoth Dobhair missed out on a place in the semi-finals when they lost out by 1-09 to 1-05 against neighbours Dungloe in Magheragallon.
That result means Dungloe top the group and will meet Killybegs at home in their semi-final while in the other semi-final, Ardara will host Gaeil Fhánada.
The Shield semi-finals at Intermediate level will see Gaoth Dobhair against St. Mary’s, Convoy and Buncrana against Carndonagh.
In the Junior A competition, there was an exciting day of drama as Naomh Columba squeezed into the last four following a brilliant win at home to Kilcar.
Naomh Columba, who won away at Urris the previous weekend, made home advantage count against their neighbours Kilcar, winning by 2-12 to 1-10. It means they will have a Junior A semi-final next weekend away to Na Dúnaibh.
In the other group, Glenswilly travelled to Donegal Town and beat Four Masters by 4-10 to 2-05 to secure second spot and an away semi-final against Naomh Pádraig Uisce Choinn.
The Shield semi-finals at Junior A will see Urris against Malin and Four Masters against Kilcar.
Meanwhile in the Junior B championship, the last match of the group stages on Sunday morning saw Letterkenny Gaels impress in a 2-10 to 0-07 win away to Red Hughs.
That result means Gaels qualify for the Shield final next Sunday against Aodh Ruadh 2.
Red Hughs were already guaranteed their place in the Junior B final and they will meet MacCumhaill’s next Sunday in what promises to be an exciting decider.
