LETTERKENNY was flooded with a sea of pink yesterday morning as hundreds of people gathered to support the Pink Run and Walk in aid of Cancer Care West.
Organiser Lisa Gallagher who herself is currently undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer said she was “overwhelmed” by the number of people who turned up to show their support.
The goal when organising the charity run and walk was to “turn the town pink” and that is exactly what they did.
“My sister Tanya even had pink balloons on every single lamp post on the course,” Lisa laughed.
With Cancer Care West being a huge support for Lisa throughout her journey, she said she wanted to give something back to the vital service.
So she decided to organise this charity fundraiser with the help of Monica Grier from the Community Centre in Letterkenny.
Already raising close to €5,000 for Cancer Care West from a fundraising head shave, Lisa is confident this figure will be doubled once they count the proceeds from yesterday’s event.
Lisa also offered a special word of thanks to the various local businesses who got behind her fundraiser.
She also thanked local fitness instructor Ciara McVeigh Lunn who took the time to help warm up the participants ahead of yesterday morning’s event.
