Letterkenny woman features on Léamh le Chéile videos

Ministers O’Gorman and Humphreys have launched the Léamh le Chéile videos as a Letterkenny woman features on three of the videos.

These are recordings of the My Little Library Irish Language books which are available free of charge for children starting school in 2023 from their local library.

Book bags can be collected by parents from any public library in Ireland including those in Donegal.

They are available in English and Irish.

Last year Donegal County Library created glossaries which were linked to videos of the Irish Language books being read in order to encourage parents who don’t normally read Irish books to do so.

This year the glossaries and videos have been made available on a national basis.

Three of the stories are read by Caoimhe Ní Chathail from Letterkenny. The videos can be viewed here: https://www.librariesireland.ie/my-little-library

The First 5 Little Library Initiative is funded under Dormant Accounts Funding.

It delivers on one of the many actions under First 5: the whole-of-government strategy to improve the lives of babies, young children and their families. This ten-year plan aims to ensure all children in Ireland have positive early experiences and get a great start in life. Find out more on the First 5 website.
