DESSIE Larkin’s first year as Letterkenny’s Town Centre Manager has this week been described as nothing other than a “huge success.”
Mr Mark Bundschu of ABC bookshop, said that since the former Mayor of Donegal County Council and Letterkenny Town Council took up his position, there has been an increase in footfall on the main street and a drop in the number of vacant units.
Last year, the vacancy rate in Letterkenny was 20.2 per cent, well above the national average of 12.3 per cent. It is now 18 per cent and Mr Bundschu is confident that figure is going to drop further.
Speaking to this paper on Wednesday, he said the project is essential for the town and he was very happy the council was “engaging with the process” in relation to the continuation of Mr Larkin’s employment.
