LETTERKENNY teachers, Anna Farren and Laura Gleeson are excited to launch their new business, Create Communicate.
Both working as primary school teachers in Scoil Mhuire gan Smál, the childhood friends put their skills and experience together to set up a new communications school to respond to the emerging requirements of the secondary school curriculum.
Anna and Laura have each achieved their Associate Diploma in Speech and Drama with the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM).
The ladies are passionate about helping children and adolescents become confident communicators in all public speaking environments.
Create Communicate is offering classes in response to the emphasis on Classroom Based Assessments (CBAs).
They aim to strengthen students’ aptitude for communicating in educational settings and beyond.
In the new specification for Leaving Cert English, students will be expected to be proficient in two-way communication. These proposed changes will account for 20 per cent of their overall mark in English.
Create Communicate will bring students through Grades 1-8 of the Drama and Communication syllabus with the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Students will be tutored in presentation skills for project delivery and speech-making, impromptu speech delivery skills, and practical theory relevant to each grade level.
Class sizes at Create Communicate are small ensuring that each student will receive ample teacher tuition, as well as reaping the benefits of pair and group activities, guided by their teacher throughout. Anna and Laura endeavour to bring each student to a level of distinction in their examinations, drawing on their years of experience in teaching and performance, to help young people become effective, confident communicators for any audience.
If you would like to get in touch, Create Communicate can be contacted on social media at @create_communicate_ on Instagram, on Facebook @Create_Communicate and via email createcommunicateCC@gmail.com.
Classes will begin on Friday, September 26.
