THE funeral of beloved Letterkenny teacher Seamus Quinn will take place this morning in Derry.
Mr Quinn, pictured below, was well-known throughout Donegal for his years spent teaching Spanish in Loreto Secondary School.
Requiem Mass will take place at 10am this morning in St Patrick’s Church, Pennyburn followed by private cremation.
Following the news of his passing, Loreto Secondary School closed their doors on Friday as a mark of respect.
Describing the Derry native as an “exceptional teacher”, the local secondary school said he was a supportive colleague to all. “He was a man who had time for everyone and will be dearly missed,” a tribute read.
“He leaves behind a legacy of academic excellence and kindness.”
Crana College in Buncrana also paid tribute to their former staff member.
In a touching tribute, they described him as a “cherished” member of the school community.
“Seamus was the kind of teacher and colleague who made an immediate and lasting impression,” the tribute read.
“His kindness, good humour, and warm welcomes were felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.”
Mr Quinn is the beloved husband of Jaqueline and the loving father of Caitlin, Seamus, Micheál, Roisín and Diarmuid.
He is the dear son of the late James and Sheila, and dear brother of Gerard, Dermot, Aileen, Oonagh and the late Siobhan.
