Letterkenny St Patrick’s Day Parade

Letterkenny St.Patrick’s Day Parade came back with a bang in 2022 and things are getting into full swing for the 2023 taking place on Friday 17.

The parade is one of the biggest in the County and this year Letterkenny Chamber is hoping to make this one another full on celebration with a festival atmosphere on the day.

On this the week of the parade, sporting groups, dancers, gymnasts and lots of other people are putting the finishing touches to their floats to join in this national holiday that will be celebrated in style all over the world.

Chamber President Fionnuala Rabbitt said “Last year we had one of the biggest ever turnouts for the parade and we hope to keep the momentum going this year. St. Patrick’s Day is an important event in the calendar marking the start of the Spring season. This year it falls on a weekend, that makes it extra special so everyone in Letterkenny is looking forward to a fantastic few days. The hotels are full and we hope everyone can come along and join in the fun. The Letterkenny Parade is a great family event in Letterkenny, young and old come out to see the traditional parade work its way through the town centre.”
There are lots of groups already signed up but there’s still room for more. If there are any sporting clubs, youth groups, clubs and societies who would like to get involved and embrace the 2023 parade it would be great if they can get in touch.

The Letterkenny Parade is a fun, inclusive and colourful, a real family celebration.

This year entertainment will start at the stage at Market Centre at 1.30pm with the parade proper starting at 3pm.

At the stage there will be music from the Hillbillies, singing and dancing and then we will be joined by our favourite MC Keith Fletcher for the parade itself.

In addition there will be a photo booth located on the Main Street, sponsored by Optum where spectators and their families can get a commemorative photo of this special day.

For those gathering to watch the parade Callum Keaveney, will be playing outside McGettigans Hotel, sponsored by VP McMullin Solicitor.

Just across the street at the Courthouse take a selfie at our Photoframe, sponsored by TCS.

Folk’n About will play outside Blakes Bar, sponsored by R McCullagh Jewellers.

So there’s lots to keep everyone entertained until the parade starts at 3pm.

Come to Letterkenny for the day, come early, get your photo taken, listen sto some music and watch the parade. Join us to celebrate all things Irish.

“Letterkenny Chamber is the sole organiser of the Parade and each year it is only through the voluntary effort of members of the Chamber and financial contributions from businesses that enables it to happen. We are proud to play our part in this important day and we have been delighted with the contributions received so far.”

Fionnuala continued “we are asking everyone to get behind our St.Patrick’s day event in Letterkenny this year.

“The families that come out to watch and everyone who gets involved makes the parade a happy occasion for all.”
