ON the lead up to the Donegal GAA senior county final, two shops in Letterkenny are getting behind St Eunan’s GAA club while raising money for a very worthy cause.
With black and amber flags and bunting hitting the shop shelves this week, Tobin’s Service Station and Dry Arch Complex will be donating all profits from these sales to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of club stalwart, Aidan McGlynn.
Tobin’s Service Station’s proprietors Eddie and Annette have been long-time supporters of St. Eunan’s and their three children Patrick, Kieran and Alisha all play for the club.
Patrick will line out for St. Eunan’s in the Senior C final against Naomh Conaill while Kieran will captain St. Eunan’s in the Senior final against Dungloe.
And in an added twist, Kieran will find himself playing against his mum Annette’s home club – Annette (née Brunnick) is a native of St Peter’s Terrace in Dungloe.
Aidan McGlynn, who passed away last month, was a much loved member of St. Eunan’s GAA club.
He was an important member of the management teams for a number of club sides over several seasons and his love for the club never wavered during his illness.
“We were all so very fond of Aidan and he had so many friends at St. Eunan’s,” Eddie said.
“We thought it would be a nice touch to give something back to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association in his memory at this time.”
