Letterkenny property being renovated following incident

THE Donegal News understands that a property in Letterkenny has been vacated by a family and is currently being renovated by the council.

This follows what is believed to have been an incident at the property involving a young person with an addiction issue, whom is understood to have been placed in a locked room at the property in a bid to address the matter.

A source told the Donegal News: “My information is that there was an addiction issue and obviously was dealt with the wrong way. The house has now been vacated by the family, and is currently being renovated by the council.

“It is my understanding that he was locked in a bedroom with the window boarded up with plywood. Obviously he was not that well looked after or fed.

“Shocking incident to be honest. Hard to believe this is going on in 2026.”

We asked Donegal County Council and An Garda Síochána for a response. No response has yet been received.
