Letterkenny man to stand trial charged with assault using a hammer

A LETTERKENNY man is to stand trial next month charged with a number of offences including assault and burglary.

Christopher Orr (33), Cullion Road, is charged with burglary, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, namely a hammer, and two Section 3 assaults.
The alleged offences occurred at 6 Glenard Park, Long Lane, Letterkenny, on February 27, 2023.

Garda Pauline Doherty gave evidence of serving the Book of Evidence on Orr at 2.07pm at Letterkenny Courthouse on Monday.
Sergeant Gerard Dalton told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has consented to the accused being sent forward for trial at the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court, commencing on February 4.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham administered the alibi warning.
Solicitor Michael Shiel made an application for one junior counsel.
Orr was remanded on bail on the same terms and conditions as previously set down by the court.
