A LETTERKENNY man has been charged with dangerous driving causing the deaths of two young males near Rathmullan last summer.
Noel Carr (23) of Glenkeeragh, Newmills is charged with dangerous driving causing the deaths of Sean Graham and Matthew Crawford at Aghavannan Far, Kinnegar and Kintale, Rathmullan on August 3, 2013.
Garda Enda Jennings gave evidence at this morning’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court that he arrested the defendant by arrangement on today’s date and charged him with the offence at 9.48am. He made no reply to the charge.
Inspector Goretti Sheridan told the court that the Director of Public Prosectution (DPP) consented to the defendant being prosecuted on indictment and be sent forward for trial to the Letterkenny Circuit Court on a signed plea.
The inspector said the State had no objection to bail, but asked that if granted the defendant signs on once a week, surrenders his passport and provides a mobile phone number.
Judge Denis McLoughlin adjourned the case to May 19 to tie in with other charges against Carr. Inspector Sheridan said a book of evidence would be completed by June.
