Appearing before Letterkenny Circuit Court on Tuesday, Mervyn Wasson of Ballyraine Park pleaded guilty to having 1,444 images of children at his home on January 11th, 2010.

The accused, who is in his sixties, also admitted to possession of twenty-two videos depicting children under the age of seventeen years on the same date and at the same address.

Stating that his client had undergone treatment, defence counsel, Peter Nolan, B.L. asked that a psychological report be put in place in relation to the defendant.

Judge John O’Hagan agreed to adjourn the case to April 25th to await a Probation and Welfare report and to determine the accused’s suitability for community services.
