THE sale of 180 acres of land in the Churchill and Glenswilly areas has realised in excess of €800,000.

The ‘Sale Agreed’ signs have been placed on the farm of 110 acres at Drumenan, New Mills and also on a farm holding of almost 70 acres on the Cabra Brook, Drumcavney areas of Churchill and Drumaconoo.

Speaking to the Donegal News, Mr Joe Reynolds of Property Partners, Paul Reynolds in Letterkenny said there had been huge interest in both farms.

“We’re more than satisfied with the prices obtained for each holding proving that throughout County Donegal there is always great demand for farms of land, regardless of size. It’s not too often that two farms of this scale go on the market at the one time,” he said.

The 110 acres at Drumenan, sold by the executor of the late Charles McDaid, and which were divided up in nine separate lots, realised between €3,000 and €4,000 per acre.

The Cabra Brook farm holdings of almost 70 acres were offered for sale by the executors of the late John Kennedy. Both men were bachelor farmers.

The lands belonging to the late Mr Kennedy were sold in four separate lots. Two of the smaller lots realised between €8,000 and €10,000 per acre while the 38.5 acres at Cabra Brook, made up primarily of mixed land (hill and arable) attracted bids closer to €5,000 per acre.
