HOUSE prices in Letterkenny and the surrounding areas have risen by six per-cent in the last 12 months, according to figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
The latest figures show that the average house price in the Letterkenny Eircode district, which covers areas like Gaoth Dobhair, Falcarragh and Dunfanaghy, is €125,000.
This is an increase of more than €7,500 compared to the same time last year.
The data which was recorded in January also gives details on the house prices in the Lifford Eircode District which covers Inishowen right down to Ballybofey.
There was a slight increase in the average house prices in this area rising from €111,907 last year to €113,250 this year.
Similarly in the Donegal Eircode district, which covers the south of the county, there was also a slight increase in prices.
This time last year prices in the Donegal Eircode area were averaging €106,849 while this year they have risen to €107,663.
So far this year there has been 142 sales finalised of properties in Donegal.
The most expensive transaction was for a collection of seven houses in Lennon Grove in Ramelton for a price of €320,000.
The most expensive single property sold was in Gort Fada, Glounthuane for €281,453.74.
Other areas with the highest price tags were Kiltoy, Letterkenny where a property sold for €225,000, Kilmagner, Upper Ballymacool where a property was sold for €235,000 and Slatehill, Newtowncunnigham where a property sold for €234,000.
On the other end of the scale some properties sold for as low as €20,000 this year in other parts of the county including Castlefin, Carrigans and Convoy.
