THE former CEO of the North Western Health Board is passionately fighting for same sex marriage in Ireland, and he says it is very personal to him.
Pat Harvey’s son Declan is gay and he believes the upcoming referendum on same sex marriage is about being equal – Just equal. The “sky will not fall in” if the ‘yes’ vote wins.
Speaking exclusively to the Donegal News, the Letterkenny native suggested the battle for fairness, inclusion and equality for all, will be won step by step, vote by vote, gay wedding by gay wedding.
As the public debate on the referendum gathers pace ahead of the May 22 polling day, Mr Harvey said it was time to send out a clear message that LGBT people are valued and should be treated as equals.
