LETTERKENNY DJ 666cmg (aka Conor McGranaghan) is set to make his debut at Ireland’s biggest music festival as he joins the Electric Picnic line-up for 2024.
Set to perform in front of thousands in Stradbally, Co. Laois this August, the rising star said this opportunity is something he has dreamt of for years.
Conor, who is the son of Mick and Trisha McGranaghan, spoke of how he became obsessed with music in his final years of secondary school.
“I began looking for more music, finding new music and coming across these genres I am playing now like house and techno.
“It has never really stopped since then, I became obsessed with it,” he said.
Coming from humble beginnings, Conor, who now works as a barman in McGinley’s Bar in Letterkenny, began producing music from his bedroom.
Recalling his first time performing in front of an audience, Conor said he was “instantly hooked”.
“My first gig probably would have been in the Central Bar in Letterkenny at Rez,” he said.
Rez was an underground music night based in Letterkenny. It showcased the finest tunes across the electronic music spectrum.
“Once I got that taste of playing to people, playing in front of a crowd and playing in an actual club, I just couldn’t get enough of it,” Conor said.
Now playing in venues such as the Telegraph Building in Belfast and Index Dublin, his music career has gone from strength to strength.
And the next thing Conor can tick off his bucket list is performing at Electric Picnic.
“Honoured” to be playing the Terminus stage at this year’s festival, Conor said he is “buzzing” to perform alongside some of the best in the business.
“Every artist would dream of getting to play Electric Picnic so to get this opportunity I am just over the moon,” he said.
