A little bit of history was made last Thursday evening when Letterkenny Credit Union hosted a special visit by the country’s two most senior officials in the Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU).
CEO, Mr David Malone, and newly elected President, Mr Martin Busch met with the Board of Directors/Board Oversight Committee members, Senior Management Team, staff, and volunteers at the credit union offices on High Road.
It is the first time in the 61-year history of Letterkenny Credit Union that such two high ranking officers visited together.
The event and business meetings have been hailed as a major success.
It took the form of a reception, business meeting with the Board of Directors and an open meeting with representatives of other Credit Unions across the county.
Speaking afterwards, Mr Paul Hume, Chairperson of Letterkenny Credit Union said: “This business meeting was memorable and beneficial for our credit union. We got the chance, first-hand, to meet with the two most senior officials in the credit union movement.
“It afforded our Board of Directors/Board Oversight Committee the opportunity to lay out the success of the Credit Union in Letterkenny, but more importantly to raise our key challenges and concerns at LKCU and tap into the huge opportunities ahead.
“Staff also enjoyed the opportunity to engage with the two special guests.
“The two guests were highly impressed with the knowledge, practical ideas and suggestions from our Board, and have promised to bring a report back to us in the coming weeks,” Mr Hume added.
Mr Hume paid tribute to everyone at the credit union who made the visit possible, CEO, Mr Gordon Randles, Deputy CEO, Ms Gail Griffin, the Board of Directors, Board Oversight Committee, staff, and volunteers especially Kathleen Dorrian for invaluable input.
