A LETTERKENNY construction company has been shortlisted for the prestigious Irish Construction Industry Awards 2023.
Boyle Construction, based at Ballyraine, Letterkenny, is the only Donegal company which has been named among the long list of nominees for the awards.
The company has been nominated in the Health and Education sector for their work at the new Ballyshannon Community Hospital. The hospital is expected to open in late Autumn.
This project consisted of the refurbishment of the existing Sheil building and the construction of two new three storey wings to the rear complimenting the current structure.
Works were carried out on a complex site and workers also discovered a bronze age urn on excavation. The hospital was built during the Covoid-19 pandemic when lengthy restrictions were in place.
Bid Manager at the company, Tanya Russell said the company has never entered any awards before but they are delighted to be shortlisted for the awards.
“The award is in the health and education sector and we carry out a lot of that work at the moment.
“The Hospital is recently finished and we only applied for the award back in July but we had never entered any awards before and to get shortlisted is just fantastic.
“It is particularly special for us because we are the only company from Donegal nominated for the awards and it is for a Donegal based project.
“For us, it is great recognition for the team that was involved in the project. They are a great team and this nomination is recognition for all the team’s hard work to get this project over the line,” said Ms Russell.
It has been a busy year for the company as they recently finished works at St Mary’s National School in Stranorlar and they are currently working on a project at Little Angels, Letterkenny.
The awards will be held on November 2 in The Mansion House in Dublin.
