THE Letterkenny Community Heritage Group are set to launch an exhibition in the Donegal County Museum tonight, Monday, September 4 at 7pm.
The exhibition is being launched in a bid to celebrate the past 10 years and what they have achieved in that time.
Speaking to the Donegal News ahead of the exhibition, a spokesperson from the group said surprisingly for a group that seeks to commemorate events that took place in and around the Letterkenny area there is no record of when the Letterkenny Community Heritage Group was formed!
“Despite that failure to record our own founding moments, the group has gone on to make a lasting contribution to the Cathedral Town – various publications, lectures, wall murals, debates, walks, conferences and the ever-popular tribute nights.
“The group has always sought to have a wide definition of heritage and a keen awareness that the past connects us to the present and that you don’t have to go too far back in time to find the past.
“We are justly proud of what we have achieved and at the same time aware that there is more to be done.
“We are very grateful to Donegal County Council and our local councillors for their continuing support, the Donegal County Museum for holding this exhibition, the Station House Hotel for hosting our meetings, the various businesses around the town who have supported our endeavours and you, the people of Letterkenny and beyond for coming along and giving us your time so that we can mark some moments in time.”
The exhibition is set to run until Tuesday, September 19.
All are welcome and light refreshments will be served.
