Letterkenny charity on tax defaulters list

LETTERKENNY’S Good and New Cancer Shop was included in Revenue’s latest list of tax defaulters this week and agreed a settlement of over €104,000.

A Revenue audit was undertaken at the charity which revealed an under declaration of PAYE/PRSI/USC.
They found an under declaration of €66,383.18 in tax which accumulated €18,554.56 interest and penalties of €19,917.95 according to Revenue’s data.

Also on the defaulters list from Donegal was Mrs Brown’s Boys actor Daniel O’Carroll, son of comedian Brendan O’Carroll who has an address in Manorcunnigham. Mr O’Carroll, who stars as Buster Brady in Mrs Browns Boys, made a settlement to revenue of €125,920 following a Revenue audit which found under declaration of income tax and non-declaration of Capital Acquisitions Tax.

The defaulters list, published by Revenue today (Tuesday) provides details of 73 taxpayers who have made settlements totalling €12.7million in the final quarter of last year. The biggest tax settlement was made by Dublin based Seces International Trade Ltd, which provides phone repair services and sells hair products. The company, which had an address in Moore Street, Dublin 1, made a settlement for more than €1.2 million on foot of an investigation by Revenue.
