Pramerica mentors and staff with Mulroy College staff and student mentees beginning their mentoring journey at the Business in the Community Ireland Student Mentoring Programme Launch at the Pramerica campus, Letterkenny.
PRAMERICA Systems Ireland in Letterkenny have partnered once again with Mulroy College in Milford to launch a mentoring programme for the school’s fifth-year students.
The software and contact centre subsidiary of US-based Prudential Financial Inc operates the Schools’ Business Partnership Programme, an education inclusion initiative facilitated by Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI).
Principal of Mulroy College Ms Fiona Templeton said they were very grateful to Pramerica employees for making another two-year commitment to the students here.
“The mentors inspire our students to achieve their goals,” she added.
Nine Pramerica employees will meet at least one hour per month with the students to help them prepare for the transition from school to employment or to higher education.
According to Leanne Mimnagh Pramerica’s Human Resources Director, they too are delighted that so many of their employees have volunteered to become involved in this initiative.
“The programme not only benefits the students, but it also gives our employees the opportunity to develop their leadership, team-building, interpersonal and communication skills,” she said.
Elaine McFadden, regional co-ordinator – Donegal of BITCI stressed the great success the student mentoring programme has had.
“We recognise the leadership and commitment Pramerica demonstrates by continuing to guide and share their business expertise with these young adults, and we look forward to further strengthening the ties between Pramerica and Mulroy College over the coming years,” she said.
The Schools’ Business Partnership is funded by the participating businesses and the School Completion Programme (The Department of Children and Youth Affairs).
