THE green light has been given for Donegal County Council to demolish an apartment block in Letterkenny which has defective concrete blocks, and to replace it with a new building that will consist of 12 one bed units and six two bed social housing units.
Councillors have approved the proposals to demolish Block C of the Nas Mór apartments at Carnamuggagh Upper, just off the N56, and near Hegarty’s Autoservices.
The existing building contains 12 two bed apartments but under the new plans these will be reconfigured.
The new development will also see the installation of lifts.
The proposals were publicised and a public consultation process took place, at the end of which there were no third party submissions.
The site is accessed through the Glenn Tain estate access road near Hegarty’s Autoservices and is less than 200 metres from the N56 Letterkenny-Kilmacrennan road.
Meanwhile, Cllr. Tomás Seán Devine has once again raised issues about water in the Glenn Tain area, while Cllr. Ciaran Borgan – calling for a workshop on the water issues – said that “residents are having a challenging time.”
