Letterkenny AC’s Fit4Life group celebrates its second birthday

By Diarmaid Doherty
THE members of Fit4Life at Letterkenny Athletic Club celebrated the group’s second birthday last week – and they’re already looking forward to a busy summer of healthy activity.

It was back in April 2023 that the Fit4Life class was formed by a team of coaches from Letterkenny AC.
The idea was the brainchild of club chairman, Raymond Birch whose intention was to provide a group setting at the Aura Leisure Centre track where people of all ages and levels of fitness could come along and take part in some training.

The weekly, hour long class, has grown in popularity – last Monday night’s session had over 80 people taking part.
As members of the group enjoyed some welcome treats in the Aura Centre to mark two years together, lead coach Ciaran O’Donnell thanked everyone who has played their part in Fit4Life’s success.
“When we first discussed the idea of setting up Fit4Life, it was important to get coaches on board who would be willing to give of their time on a Monday evening and to buy into what this is all about,” he said.
“We have a brilliant team of coaches and it’s been our pleasure to be able to work with the group and to see so many people getting so much benefit from it. The most important thing is that people are putting the runners on and getting some exercise and training in. The benefits are clear to be seen. We have 80 people here tonight and more people are joining us each week which shows that we are doing something right.”

The Fit4Life class runs every Monday from 6-7pm. New faces – and some old ones returning! – are always welcome.
