STEPS are being taken to rectify a leak issue in the roof of An Grianán Theatre in Letterkenny. The Director, Ms Patricia McBride, has confirmed there has been a problem but stressed there is no health and safety issue at present.
The issue has resulted in leaks to the administrative office and one dressing room. Concerns had been expressed that the facility might have to close, but Ms McBride, said there’s no question of that happening. The leak was first discovered in January.
“Further to reports in the press based on concerns expressed in a letter by Mr Paddy O’ Connor, I can confirm that there is an issue with the theatre’s roof which has resulted in leaks to the administrative office and first dressing room.
“These spaces are adjacent and are based on the upper right hand side of the building. Presently the leaks are confined to these spaces. The rest of the theatre building in fully functional and open to the public and the theatre’s user groups. There is no health and safety issue for any members of the public, performers or theatre staff.
