LEADER funding for two Donegal projects

Donegal Minister Joe McHugh has announced funding under the Leader programme for work on Bád Gráinne Rose at Dhún Lúiche.
“This is a brilliant investment to help with the tourism offering in one of the most scenic spots in our county,” Minister McHugh said.

“I am delighted to be able to share the news that Comharchumann Forbartha Dhún Lúiche Teo has been approved funding of more than €36,000 under the Leader programme for work on the boat.

Dúirt an tAire: “Fáiltim roimh na tacaíochtaí don dhá thógra seo, tá sár-obair á déanamh ag an dá thionscadal don phobal áitiúil agus tá siad ag tairiscint rud éigin do chuairteoirí agus tá lúchair orm go bhfuil an Rialtas ag tacú leis na tionscadail seo leng gcuid huaillmhianta agus smaointe móra.”

Minister McHugh added: “The investment will mean the pleasure boat can be upgraded and extended and it will be able to carry more than 50 passengers on the site seeing and cruises on the water.

“The total investment in the tourism project will be €48,500 thanks to the local team and the support of Leader through the Department of Rural and Community Development.”

The Leader programme has also confirmed funding for Coiste Forbatha Naomh Fhionáin to help them with new IT equipment for the new hall.

“The work that has gone into the hall in Falcarragh and the drive by Paul Anthony McFadden and Michael Duggan has created a top class facility and it really is great to see organisations like Leader recognise that and keeping the support coming.
“I wish everyone involved in both projects plenty of success in the future.
“There’s also been great support from Councillor Michael McClafferty and all everyone on my team to keep pushing for Government support for projects like these. They are leaving a lasting legacy in the area and that’s something to be proud of.”
