A CHARITY 5K fun walk and run with a difference will take place on Friday night around the Twin Towns of Ballybofey and Stranorlar.
The ‘Midnight Madness’ event will leave the Ard Greine Court sheltered housing facility in Stranorlar at 9 pm, before runners and walkers follow the route around the towns.
Funds raised will go towards Ard Greine Court and the Sean O’Hare Unit Comfort Fund.
Spot prizes and refreshments will be available back at the centre around midnight. Participants are asked to come along early to register for this fun event.
Ard Greine Court was developed by the Donegal Housing Association for the Mentally Handicapped to provide independent living accommodation for former residents of the Sean O’Hare Unit in St Joseph’s Hospital.
Thirty six purpose built houses have been erected, providing accommodation for persons with a learning disability.
A number of years ago, the Parents and Friends Association identified the need to relocate people to more appropriate housing where they can reside in houses as tenants in their own right.
Now, they live as independent lives as possible with minimal support from the Health Service Executive. The provision of this housing together with the support received from HSE personnel enables these tenants to reside in and be part of their own community.
The tenants within this secure environment have the opportunity to maximise their own individual potential.
