Late header from Boyle gives Donegal first leg victory

Inishowen Football League 2-3 Donegal Junior League

Paul ‘Yank’ Boyle supplied an injury-time winner as the Donegal Junior League defeated the Inishowen Football League in the first leg of their Oscar Traynor Interleague tie at Maginn Park tonight.

There was a great start to the match and both teams went close to scoring inside a thrilling opening 12 minutes.

Donegal made the breakthrough in the 20th minute when Eddie O’Reilly finished smartly to the net.

John Francis Doogan’s Donegal were 1-0 ahead at the break and O’Reilly grabbed a fine second in the 64th minute.

Inishowen didn’t cave in and they scored two goals in two minutes with Kieran McDaid and Luke Rudden on the mark.

Rudden was then sent off as tempers started to flare but there was still time for more drama.

Joel Gorman supplied a dangerous corner in the 92nd minute and Keadue Rovers player Boyle rose highest to head home the winner.

The sides will meet again in the second leg in Ballyare at the end of the month.
