Burt 2-8 Naomh Muire 0-14
Eoin Martin nailed a free ten minutes into second half injury-time as Naomh Muire rescued a draw against Burt in the Intermediate Relegation semi-final at O’Donnell Park this evening.
Burt led by 1-3 to 0-4 at half-time with Jack O’Brien scoring the goal in the seventh minute.
Naomh Muire got level after the restart, before Burt posted three successive points.
The Rosses men kept going and a Harry Harden free left one point between the teams after 54 minutes.
However, Keith McColgan then found the net one minute later.
It wasn’t looking good for Naomh Muire but they kept battling. Joey Gillespie and Harry Harden (2) were on target before Naomh Muire were granted a free in the tenth minute of injury-time, and Martin slotted it over.
Burt were furious with the referee Shane Murrin over his time-keeping and made their views known at the end of the match.
Both teams were prepared to play extra-time but were later informed that there was no ‘winner on the day’ stipulation in the regulations for a relegation play-off, and they will have to meet again in a replay.
