Southwest Donegal 1-9 St Patrick’s, Armagh 2-7
Southwest Donegal were inches away from topping their MacRory Cup group but a late Michael McSorley free ensured St Patrick’s Armagh took the win and the top spot in Garvaghey on Tuesday.
Needing a win against their Armagh counterparts, the Donegal side had a brilliant start and went four points ahead thanks to scores from Danny Brown (3), Pádraig Mac Giolla Bhríde and Shane Callaghan, but a McSorley goal made it 0-5 to 1-1 at the break.
The Armagh men hit the next six scores including a goal from Caomh Agnew to go seven ahead with 15 to play, but Southwest rallied again through Brown (2), Callaghan and Jordi Gribben.
Darragh Hennigan’s goal levelled the game and they had a number of chances to take the lead, but McSorley’s difficult free mean Donegal will have to wait on the outcome of the Castleblayney and Newry game to see if they finish second.
