LAGAN HARPS 8 TIPPERARY TOWN 1

Lagan Harps Ladies claimed their second All Ireland success in four years with an emphatic 8-1 victory over Tipperary Town in Cooke Park today.

Three minutes later Lagan were level when Amber Barrett netted after good work from Burke to level things up and three minutes later Brid McGinty’s girls were ahead after a fine pass by Saorla McGarrigle found Lauren Harper who’s near post shot gave Laura Peters no chance.

The Lagan girls kept pressing and their efforts came good when Nakita Burke sealed the third goal after good work from Nadine Crawford and Lauren Harper. The onslaught continued and the fourth wasn’t long away and it came from Emma McKinley’s close range header from a short corner. Mc Kinley and Barrett could have extended the lead as both hit the post.

It was captain Caroline Gallagher who was to make it 5 with another headed goal from inside the six yard box.

Lagan put more pressure on the weak Tippeary defence and Barrett would hit the timber yet again but the Ireland U19 striker wouldn’t be denied her second and on the stroke of Half Time she finished a perfect pass from Gallagher to make 6 by half time.

> The Tipperary managers talk didn’t do to well at Half Time when Nakita Burke made it 7 after another Gallagher pass . And on 60 minutes Lauren Harper would wrap up the scoring with a well struck shot past Philips in the Tipp goal from a Mc Garrigle pass.

The Tipperary keeper made numerous saves throughout but Lagan threatened from all over the pitch, with Emma Duffy commanding the Lagan defence, which give Nadine Crawford and Saorla McGarrigle chances to go on the attack.

It’s great result for manager Brid Mc Ginty who claimed her second FAI Cup medal in four years along with get back room staff of Gerard McGarrigle , Gabriel Crawford , Deirdre McGarrigle and Lorraine Crawford sees the Manor side adding the FAI Junior to an already impressive trophy cabinet .
