Labhaoise Clarke named in Irish squad for European Championships

LABHAOISE Clarke has been selected to compete at the European Women’s Youth and Junior Championships in Assisi, Italy later this month.

The Carndonagh boxer, fresh from the winning of her fifth Irish title in June, is currently in a training camp with the squad at St Brigid’s BC, Edenderry, County Offaly. The squad are training in Edenderry this week and next week before the fly out to Italy on Saturday-week, July 19th.

Carndonagh bantamweight Clare defeated Clondard’s Sophie Tierney at the National Stadium to win the Cadets title and her mind is now turned towards the European Championships

The championships take place in Assisi between July 19th and 28th.
Clarke had previously won titles at Girl 1, 2, 3 and 4 levels. Prior to winning the cadets, she had won her fourth Irish crown, defeating Erin Heneghan from Aglish in County Mayo in the Girl 4 54kgs final.

The Irish team, sponsored by Quick Park of Dublin Airport, departs from Dublin Airport on Saturday 19th. Clarke competes in the junior championships at 54kgs.
