The Ramelton man, who celebrates his 19th birthday on Sunday, was offered a one-year contract extension which will see him stay at Carrow Road until the summer of 2015.

The centre-back has captained Norwich’s Under-21s this season and has also been captain of the Republic of Ireland Under-19s.

With youth team manager Neil Adams – who guided Callan-McFadden and company to FA Youth Cup glory last season – recently being promoted to succeed the axed Chris Hughton as senior team manager of the Canaries, the player sees a big opportunity.

“I’m delighted to have been offered another year here at Norwich,” Callan-McFadden told the Donegal News.

“I’ve settled in very well at the club. I’m looking forward to pushing on next season and hopefully working my way into the first-team squad. I’ll also consider maybe going to a League 1 or League 2 team on loan if everything works out.

“It’s brilliant to get another contract and I want to make the most of it now.”

Callan-McFadden was snapped up by Norwich in July 2011 having impressed while playing in the Clydesdale Bank International Tournament in Guernsey in April 2011. He was named as the FAI Under 16 Player of the Year award in February 2012.
