A TEENAGER from Gortahork who tragically passed away last week will be laid to rest today.
Enya Maria Celia McMurrough, of Ardsbeg, Gortahork passed away unexpectedly in Crumlin Children’s Hospital on Saturday, February 1.
Requiem Mass will take place today at 1pm in Teach Pobail Chríost Rí, Gortahork with interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Remembered widely for her kind, gentle, and caring nature, many tributes have been paid to the 13-year-old since her sad passing.
Pobalscoil Chloich Cheannfhaola said they are deeply saddened by the passing of their first year student.
“Enya Mc Murrough arrived with us last August and has left her unique mark on our school community,” a spokesperson said.
“Enya was a team player. Her attention to her school work was mature beyond her years. Her academic abilities reflected that of her teamwork in her many sporting and other pursuits. She always gave her best.”
Miss McMurrough was remembered for gracing many stages with her dancing skills and her musical accomplishments.
“She gave so much to her community for one so young,” a spokesperson continued. Her talents were varied and many.
“Enya, the person we got to know was kind, gentle, and caring. Her sense of humour and fun positively affected everyone who met her, skipping along the halls at PCC.
“She was someone people gravitated towards because of her natural kindness and warmth.
“Enya will forever be etched in our memories, and as she leaves our stage, we have no doubt she is on the heavenly stage with the other angels sharing those talents.
“Enya will live in our hearts and memories forever.”
Miss Mc Murrough’s bandmates at Banna Ceoil Cloich Cheann Fhaola also paid tribute to the dedicated musician.
“Enya was one of a kind, her kindness, warmth, and infectious smile lit up every room she walked into,” a spokesperson said.
“She had a smile for everyone and a heart full of joy, always bringing laughter and music wherever she went.
“She wasn’t just a band member, she was family.
“She spoke to everyone with such friendliness, making each person feel welcome and valued.
“A talented musician, she had a true love for the band and never missed a practice. Her dedication and passion shone through in everything she did.”
Her bandmates pledged to carry her spirit in every note they play.
“We will miss her more than words can say, but we will carry her spirit with us in every note we play,” a spokesperson said.
“We will forever hold her in our hearts and treasure the memories we made together.”
Donegal LGFA also expressed their condolences to the Mc Murrough family.
“Everyone at Donegal LGFA would like to express our deepest condolences to the McMurrough and McCready families on their loss at this sad time,” a spokesperson said.
“A life taken far too soon, may Enya rest in peace.”
Miss Mc Murrough is deeply regretted and sadly missed by her heartbroken parents; Fionnuala and Shaun, her younger brother Séan, her grandparents; Hughie and Kathleen, aunties, uncles, cousins and extended family and many friends.
