Kilmacrennan Rd driving – There has to be a better way

As someone who has frequent important early appointments in Letterkenny University Hospital I find it very frustrating trying to enter the town via the Kilmacrennan Road.

With the two short lanes leading into the town ending abruptly at the George Boal Roundabout, traffic that had been on the fast lane must now endeavour to manoeuvre on to the single lane. All of which leads to the annoyance of drivers who had been on the slow lane.

Having one lane inwards one lane outwards would be much better than what is there at the moment.

Even better would be one lane inwards and two lanes leading away from the town.

All those who are familiar with the situation know that as things stand, with the constant flow of traffic inwards on the fast lane it is quite risky trying to overtake a slow moving vehicle on that single lane outwards.

If you don’t get past that vehicle before the spot where the two lanes finish you could be stuck behind there for long enough, thus greatly adding to environment damage.
