A KILLYGORDON man, who was tragically killed in the US, will be laid to rest on Friday.
Damien O’Brien, a native of Stoneybatter, died after being knocked down in Huntington Beach, California, in the early hours of Sunday, July 6.
The 35-year-old was walking home from a night out with friends when he was tragically killed.
A 21-year-old driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Mr O’Brien and his wife Michelle have two sons and are expecting a third child in September.
The Donegal man, who moved to California over ten years ago, was a well-known and much-loved member of the Irish community.
He worked as a Vice President of Operations at TM Grady Builders and was a member of the Wild Geese GAA Club.
Mr O’Brien’s remains are being repatriated today to his parents’ home in Stoneybatter, Killygordon, where he will be reposing from 5 pm to 9 pm, and again on Thursday from 1 pm to 9 pm.
Requiem Mass will take place on Friday, July 18, at 12 noon in St Patrick’s Church, Killygordon, F93 W2C2, with private burial afterwards in Cill Mhuire Cemetery, Glenfin.
Mr O’Brien is deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving wife, Michelle, (nee O’Connor), adoring sons Oscar and Luke, his parents Patricia and Bernard, parents-in-law, Pat and Patricia O’Connor (Glenfin), sisters Colleen and Róisin, brothers Stephen and Bernard, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, partners, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, colleagues and wide circle of friends.
